Beat on the Street - 1991 Geo Prizm GSi

While driving home from the airport this afternoon, I spotted this - the Holy Grail of Geos - the 1991 Prizm GSi. I caught up and followed it into a parking lot to get these low-grade images.

What makes a GSi so special? Why not settle for the LSi?

Beat on the Street - 1969 KE10 Toyota Corolla 1200

Assembled side-by-side with Ramblers, early Australian Corollas were screwed together from completely knocked down (CKD) kits by an outfit called AMI in Melbourne. AMI started out with the help of Standard cars in the late twenties, later building AMCs, Toyotas, Mercedes, and Triumphs local to the Australian market. After 22 years of Toyota production, Toyota bought out AMI, essentially making a baby-NUMMI that continues to produce cars and CKD kits for the entire South Pacific market.

T-Topz' Limo is For Sale and on Jalopnik!

Friend of Beaterblog, T-Topz bought this car about five years ago in it's pure velour on white condition. I can't describe it's current form better than T-Topz' brother, Mini-Topz. Here it is, now featured on Jalopnik and for sale here!

I've had many-a-ride to and from the bar in the thing...Crack Pipe!

In The Garage - Simca #2

If you have driven by my house or read the trailer lights post, you may or may not have seen that I picked up another Simca against my better judgment. The plan here is to see if it runs, swap the motor from the rotten-banana-yellow one, or try something more ambitious...Omni GLH-S motor?

The motor is supposedly toasted but it's worlds less rusty than the yellow one. There are parts on this car that I didn't even know the yellow one ever had - rockers for example. Keep checking back to see what happens with it. For now I just have to find a place to put it.

Beater How To - Worst Trailer Lights Ever

What's the worst part about towing? That's right - the lights. No matter what style of connector you have be it 4 pin flat, 4 pin round, 6 pin, 7 bin blade, male or female, I have news for you: your truck has the wrong connector for whatever you happen to be dragging behind it. AutoZone will be happy to help you find the adapter for which you were desperately searching last time you borrowed a truck and/or trailer but they are unequipped to help you now.

Peugeot 404 Goes Anywhere

Matt's down under 404s reminded me how tough a French car can be. After all, its hard to argue with 4.5 million cars made for more than 30 years with Pininfarina styling.

Beat on the Street - HR Holden Premier

While driving through the inner suburbs of Sydney, this HR Holden caught the corner of my eye and I had to crank extra hard on the unassisted steering of my loaner Camry to turn around and take a look, posing an even greater threat to traffic safety.
